SJ082Q0011 CLUTCH KIT (Excluding S4s and 300) SJ082Q0011 - CLUTCH KIT (Excluding S4s and 300)

Hints and Tips: Clutch fitting instructions 1. Open boot. Disconnect battery. 2. Remove carpet, locate and remove 10 M6 bolts holding boot floor in position. These are often seized, if so cut them off and remove the remains of the nut inserts'. Fit new inserts, as necessary after ordering from Steve. Remove the right hand side ΒΌ panel (above right hand fuel tank) disconnect the multi-block connectors for the ignition box wiring. Unclip wires etc from the front side of the boot floor and remove it. 3. Unscrew the four nuts and bolts fixing the chassis cross brace in position. The bolts will be difficult to remove; this can be improved by lifting the car partially by jacking under the rear hoop on the chassis. Once the bolts are out, remove the brace. 4. Disconnect the reverse lamp wires. 5. Drain the gearbox oil. 6. Remove the exhaust silencer. 7. Disconnect the link rod from the exhaust mounting bracket to the translator assembly. (Aluminium casting) Remove the single fixing bolt, which connects the shift bar to the gearbox. If your car has the stabilising bush assembly fitted to the shift bar remove the two bolts through the rear casing of the gearbox and remove the complete selection assembly. The stabilising bush was deleted in 1990 so if your car has this fitted, order the replacement parts required to remove it permanently. 8. Remove the exhaust mounting bracket. 9.Remove the air intake pipe from the turbo and from the end of the air box. 10. Remove the four M8 nuts and bolts fixing the gearbox mounting to the chassis. 11. Remove clutch slave cylinder from the bell housing, no need to disconnect the hydraulics. 12. Drive out the twin roll pins securing the drive shafts to the gearbox. Lift the rear of the car and remove the wheels. Remove the two bolts on the outer ends of the top suspension links. Using the weight of the hub assembly pull each drive shaft out of the gearbox. 13. Support the weight of the rear of the engine with a jack and a piece of wood. Remove all the bell housing bolts. 14. Lift the rear of the engine slightly and withdraw the gearbox. Lift the gearbox from the car. IT IS VERY HEAVY 15. Refit in the reverse order. Noting a. Use an alignment tool to align the new clutch components. Make sure the clutch fork is correctly fitted; refer to the workshop manual. The box should slide in with limited resistance. b. The drive shaft holes for the roll pins are offset, so only fit in one way. New pins should always be used and silicone sealer used on the pins. Always fit new seals and the ‘O’ rings on the output shafts. c. Fully tighten the suspension bolts with the weight on the suspension.
